Columbus Day is observed in the U.S. on the second Monday of October, marking Christopher Columbus's arrival in America in 1492. Today, the holiday has become a popular shopping occasion, with retailers rolling out special promotions and discounts. This includes furniture stores like Jennifer Furniture announcing the Columbus Day Furniture sale 2026, the best time to shop for your home.

If you are eyeing new furniture, there could be plenty of deals worth checking out. But with so many options on sale, what furniture should you actually buy at Jennifer Furniture? Let's take a look.

5 Best Furniture to Buy During the Columbus Day Sale

Recliners

If your current recliner is growing old and faulty, this sale can be a good excuse to upgrade. Look for features that suit the way you relax, such as adjustable reclining positions, power headrests, lumbar support, or USB charging. Just remember to measure your space and check the recliner’s clearance before buying.

Sofas and Sectional Sofas

A Columbus Day furniture sale could be the right time to pull the trigger on a new sofa or sectional sofa at Jennifer. Since these are bigger purchases- or, let's say, an investment- even a good sale price can make a difference to your budget.

But before you jump at a discount, look at the bigger picture. Check the sofa's size, upholstery, seating comfort, and construction to make sure it fits your space and everyday needs.

Dining Tables and Dining Sets

The holidays will be here before you know it, so why not get your dining room ready? Dining tables and dining sets are worth a look during the Columbus Day sale. Think about how many people you normally seat and choose a table that leaves enough room to move around comfortably. Go for a dining room set if you prefer a more coordinated look.

Sleeper Sofas and Sleeper Sectionals

Why settle for just seating alone when you can also get a guest bed, too? Yes, sleeper sofas and sleeper sectionals can serve as a sofa and a bed. They are a smart pick for small apartments, guest rooms, home offices, and smaller homes where every inch matters.

Bedroom Furniture

A bedroom refresh doesn't always mean starting from scratch. Check around and look at what needs replacement or what can be added. Based on your needs, you can pick a new bed, mattress, dresser, nightstand, or complete bedroom set together.

If several pieces need replacing, a bedroom set can help you pull the room together without the hassle of finding matching furniture one piece at a time. A good deal is even better when the furniture actually fits your room.

How to Get the Best Columbus Day Furniture Deals at Jennifer Furniture?

We have a handful of tips to help you pick the right furniture.

Measure your space first

Before a sale gets you reaching for your wallet, decide on what furniture you want to buy and check if there is enough space to place it. Measure the furniture or check the dimensions along with measuring the space.

Compare materials and construction

A lower price doesn’t always mean a better deal. Look at the upholstery, frame construction, cushioning, finishes, and overall build. You need to win a well-made piece that lasts for years and can be better bought.

Check delivery and availability

Buying furniture on Columbus day furniture sale on huge discounts is okay. But you should know when you would get the furniture delivered. Check the estimated delivery times, shipping options, shipping charges and if the furniture is in stock or made to order.

Look beyond the percentage discount

A 50% off tag may grab your attention, but fixed-dollar savings and added perks can be just as valuable. At Jennifer Furniture, Columbus Day offers include $300 off Luonto furniture with a Protection Plan, $349 off Innovation Living sofas, free White Glove Delivery on Klaussner collections, $100 off Bernhardt and Universal Furniture products under $4,000, and up to 50% off Gio Italia products. Compare the actual savings and what’s included before you pull the trigger.
